Overview of Health and Education for All (HAEFA)

Health and Education for All (HAEFA) is an international leader in providing healthcare to the underserved and most vulnerable populations in Bangladesh, including coastal and hard-to-reach regions, FDMN Camps, urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. HAEFA’s compassionate medical team members use its technological innovations, a solar-powered electronic health record (EHR) system known as NIROG, for the management of chronic diseases and a paperless see-and-treat cervical cancer screening and treatment programs.

HAEFA is looking for a Medical Assistant, a dynamic professional ready to accept the challenges of humanitarian work for its FDMN health programs. The Medical Assistant should be self-motivated, proactive, willing to learn new strategies and program procedures, and able to generate reports and swiftly handle donors, project stakeholders, and local government/International delegates. Empathy for people from disadvantaged and underprivileged backgrounds is considered a key quality at HAEFA.

Responsibilities
  • Assist doctors during patient consultations and physical examinations; monitor and administer medications as instructed.
  • Support assessment of patient needs, help implement treatment plans, and prepare referrals as advised by doctors.
  • Promote health education among patients and communities; coordinate with community leaders, local authorities (CIC/RRRC, DGHS), and UN partners.
  • Take patient histories, prepare patients for clinical evaluation, and support counseling and follow-up under doctor supervision.
  • Collect samples, facilitate lab tests, and assist in interpreting results as directed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical, impartial care at all times.
  • Accurately collect and record patient data in the NIROG Tab and database, ensuring HIPAA-compliant confidentiality.
  • Participate in medical camps, trainings, meetings, and assist in supervisory activities.
  • Support project reporting, data entry, and coordination with the project team and Dhaka office.
Requirements: 
  • Diploma in Medical Assistant under the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC)
  • 1 to 3 years of clinical experience (Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.)
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and teamwork skills.
